WARRANTY TERMS & CONDITIONS
B&T Associates Ltd T/A Lumineux Lighting
1. Legal Entity & Scope
These Warranty Terms & Conditions apply to all products supplied by B&T Associates Ltd trading as Lumineux Lighting and any other brands operated by B&T Associates Ltd. For the purposes of this document, 'the Company' refers exclusively to B&T Associates Ltd.
This warranty applies only to products supplied and invoiced directly by the Company within the United Kingdom.
2. Standard Product Warranty
All products supplied by the Company are warranted against defects in material and workmanship from the date of invoice.
- Repair the product
- Refurbish the product
- Replace with the same product
- Replace with the nearest equivalent product
- Issue credit equivalent to the original invoice value
If proof of purchase cannot be provided, the manufacturing date will be used. Any repaired or replaced product shall remain covered only for the balance of the original warranty period.
3. Installation & Electrical Compliance Requirements
This warranty is strictly conditional upon installation and operation in accordance with:
- BS 7671 (18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations including Amendment 2)
- Manufacturer installation instructions
- Applicable British and European Standards
- Installation by a qualified and competent electrician
The Company reserves the right to request EICR certification, commissioning documentation, surge protection installation evidence, and photographic proof of installation. Failure to provide reasonable evidence may invalidate a claim.
4. Surge Protection & 18th Edition Compliance
In accordance with BS 7671:2018 including Section 443 and Section 534, protection against transient over voltages is mandatory where required by regulation or risk assessment.
Where lighting products are installed within commercial, industrial, external, three-phase or high-risk installations, Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) must be installed and coordinated as follows:
- Type 1 SPD at origin where risk of direct lightning strike exists
- Type 2 SPD at distribution boards supplying lighting circuits
- Type 3 SPD at final circuits supplying sensitive LED luminaires or control gear
SPDs must be correctly rated and installed in accordance with Section 534 and manufacturer guidance.
Failure resulting from transient overvoltages, lightning-induced surge, switching surges, voltage spikes, harmonic distortion, poor power quality, inadequate earthing or supply instability shall not be covered where compliant surge protection has not been installed.
The absence of required surge protection or a documented Regulation 443 risk assessment may invalidate warranty.
5. Environmental & Application Conditions
Warranty does not cover failure resulting from:
- Installation in environments exceeding product IP or IK rating
- Coastal or corrosive atmospheres without marine specification product
- High sulphur environments
- Chemical exposure
- Excessive vibration
- Extreme ambient temperatures outside stated limits
- Incorrect mounting orientation
- Incompatible dimming or control systems
Where products are installed externally, adequate drainage and sealing must be provided.
6. Emergency Lighting Conditions
All emergency luminaires must be installed and tested in accordance with BS EN 5266-8 and maintained in line with regulatory requirements. Battery packs must be replaced within recommended service intervals. Battery warranties remain product specific.
7. Extended On-Site Warranty
On-site warranty applies only to products carrying a 5-year standard product warranty. Products with a warranty period of less than 5 years are not eligible for on-site cover.
All rectification works require written authorisation from The Company prior to commencement.
- Project must be registered within 90 days of invoice
- Proof of purchase must be supplied
- Labour capped at £30 per hour
- Maximum 8 labour hours per claim unless agreed in writing
- Access equipment capped at £250 per claim
Travel, accommodation, traffic management, business interruption and consequential losses are excluded unless agreed in advance in writing.
On-Site Warranty Activation Threshold
The number of failed Lumineux luminaires exceeds 2% of the total Lumineux products installed at that location, or A minimum of four (4) Lumineux luminaires have failed at the same location.
Where failures fall below this threshold, the Company will supply replacement products under the Standard Product Warranty on a return‑to‑base basis.
The Company reserves the right to request the return of defective products for inspection prior to approving any on‑site warranty claim.
The Company also reserves the right to appoint its own qualified contractor or engineer to undertake rectification works where required.
7. Limitation of Liability
The Company’s liability is strictly limited to repair, replacement or credit of defective products.
Under no circumstances shall the Company be liable for loss of profit, loss of goodwill, consequential or indirect loss, business interruption, project delay costs, or any costs exceeding the limits set out within this document.
8. Right to Amend
The Company reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. The latest version will be published on the Company website.
